Every year, ever since my daughter was very little, I bought her an advent calendar. The box would have 24 little doors for her to open and they would reveal everything from chocolate to Legos. She loved them — still does.

A few years ago, I discovered beauty advent calendars and it is the gift I give myself.

Jo Malone makes the Tesla of beauty advent calendars. Everything in this advent calendar — colognes, candles, lotions, bath soap — is something I adore.

This is the thing, you’ve got to order it early. Last year I tried to buy one after Thanksgiving and it was sold out. I acted early this week and the joy I felt when it arrived at my house is hard to describe. Bookmark for next year!

Other options include L’Occitane, which also offers a luxury product edition:

The Body Shop makes a fun one that has all kinds of lovely treats like pink grapefruit shower gel and almond hand cream:

I’m a serial monogamist when it comes to lipsticks, but this lipstick advent calendar would make a great gift for a certain set of sisters that I know and love.

If you’re a fan of luxe makeup and skin products, I’d recommend Charlotte Tilbury’s “Naughty and Nice” calendar. This was what I went with last year when I was too slow for Jo. I still use the box to hold all manner of knick-knacks.
