If She Loves Audrey Hepburn…
Little McGifty declared the other day that Audrey Hepburn is her favorite actress. And I thought, “Wow. You really can Jedi mind trick your kid” because I’ve been pushing Audrey Hepburn on her since she was born when I put this Ikea print in her nursery.
While I know that Audrey hagiography simplifies her complicated life, I hope my daughter grows up understanding the joy and optimism in the Audrey credo:
“I believe in manicures.I believe in overdressing.I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick.I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing; kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything else seems to be going wrong. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles.”
And I was so touched when one of our dear friends got Little McGifty this Roman Holiday Audrey Barbie for her birthday:

This print from Notonthehighstreet.com won’t arrive quickly (it ships from Britain), but I think it’s ‘swonderful and it’s text is the Audrey credo as quoted above:
Of course, Audrey’s couteriers of choice were Ralph Lauren and Givenchy, but I think Kate Spade does a great job of keeping the spirit of Audrey alive. I mean could this crotched sun hat or the darling clutches be more Audrey?
